Launch of Heritage Booklet

The Heritage Booklet relating to the Spanish Armada ships at Streedagh has recently been published, and will be launched as part of this year's Spanish Armada International Conference.

Commissioned by the National Monuments Service in partnership with Sligo County Council, this Heritage Booklet (Archaeology Ireland's guide number 79) explains the significance of the Streedagh wreck site, where three Spanish Armada galleons - The Santa María de Visón, The Lavia and The Juliana, sank during Winter storms in 1588.

The booklet will be launched by Michael McDonagh, recently appointed Chief Archaeologist, National Monuments Service, and also by Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Councillor Séamus Kilgannon.

The Heritage Booklet will be launched at 8pm during the welcome reception just before the keynote address and copies will be made available to the public at the event, and also at the headquarters of Sligo County Council at Riverside, Sligo.
