Join us on Friday 20th September for a very special visit to Killybegs to board the ESPS CENTINELA. Meet the Officers and crew of ESPS CENTINELA from the modern Spanish Armada who will bring us on a tour of the ship.
The bus will leave Grange just before 11.30am (registration 11.00 am ) to reach Killybegs harbour at 1.00 for a short ceremony of remembrance and salute at the Duquesa Santa Ana monument to the Armada fallen at 1.15.
Following the short ceremony we have organised a very special lunch devised and prepared by the School of Tourism. Tour of ESPS CENTINELA follows lunch.
Lunch will comprise a selection of Spanish tapas created by all Ireland Tapas winner Donegal student chef Denis Byrne and prepared by The School of Tourism, Lyit, Killybegs overseen by culinary arts lecturers /chefs Tim Dewhirst and Noleen Boyle. Denis Byrne from Kilmer, Kilcar Donegal won the title of national Tapas and Pintxo 2019 at the championship held in Tralee in April 2019. He will represent Ireland in Valladolid, Spain in November.
Tapas will be created from fresh local seafood in season.
Spanish Wine is also included in cost of ticket.
In addition, Sliabh Liag Distillers who have strong connections with Spain will have tastings of their Armada Dulaman gin which has been distilled, aged in Rioja barrels and hand bottled in Co Donegal.
