Remembering the Armada

An annual commemorative event taking place at the Armada Monument and on Streedagh Beach remembering the fallen of the Spanish Armada 1588. The wrecks of 3 Spanish Armada ships, La Juliana, Santa María de Visón and La Lavia lie under the sands at Streedagh.

Starting with a parade from Streedagh Beach towards the Armada monument, and including a wreath laying event. Includes naval salute & ceremony at sea by a Spanish Navy ship.

14:30 Public gathering at Streedagh Beach
15:00 Walk commences from Streedagh Beach towards Armada monument, including reading of excerpts from De Cuéllar’s carta
15:45 Ceremony & wreath laying at Armada monument
16:00 Sail by and salute by Spanish Naval Vessel
